Mange 8 staff members and a $1 million budget to effectively support 4,000 students, and 450 full time staff members, while working as part of a 10-member interdepartmental steering team. Department responsible for 1800 tablets, 900 laptops, and 400 desktops in a multi-platform domain. Oversee desktop support, network operations, and district’s social media and web presence.
- Staff development and support
- Lead yearly introduction and refresher courses for the district’s learning management system (LMS) Moodle
- Responsible for the development of new course and system updates to the LMS
- Provide ongoing training for the district’s Google Apps deployment
- Primary point of contact for staff/system issues with SIS
- Create training modules for offline staff development
- Manage the district’s physical and virtual infrastructure
- Responsible for installing, supporting, updating, and patch management of the district’s VMware infrastructure
- Deploy new virtual machines into the environment
- Provide the district with a high availability Microsoft Windows infrastructure allowing for zero downtime during critical system updates
- Maintain the district’s datacenter storage to allow for reliable storage and data loss prevention
- Utilize Veeam to backup and replicate production environment to our disaster recovery site
- Deployed district streaming media server
- Researched and tested several streaming solutions for the district
- Implemented an Open Source Kaltura server that was able to save the district $10,000 / year over a similarly featured hosted solution
- Created a central repository for teachers to host their educational support videos
- Planned the acquisition and installation of a new data center for the district
- New network core switching installed at the main data center and failover site
- New storage area network and backup servers
- New physical servers for the district’s VMware deployment
